About me

I'm a Learning and Development professional who also writes about learning experience design, identifying and developing strengths, and the transition from academia to the corporate world.

I was born in the USA in northern California, went to college in Michigan, and then earned my PhD in British history at Indiana University. After nearly a decade as an assistant and then associate professor living in Texas, I realized that I had hit a career and life plateau. I wanted to learn new things, tackle fresh challenges, find a career that fit the person I had become, and live different places.

So, I jumped to corporate Learning and Development and got a job at a big tech company on the west coast. This exciting transition has ignited my curiosity about how people can best grow, develop, and transform themselves.
